SXS Race Preparation Checklist

SXS Race Weekend Preparation Checklist

A fast SXS that misses technical inspection or fails because of a loose component never gets the result it should. Use this checklist before every short course, endurance or desert-style race.

Registration and Documents

  • Membership and event registration completed
  • Correct class and race number confirmed
  • Current schedule and supplemental rules saved
  • Required identification and racer information ready

Driver Safety Gear

  • Approved helmet and eye protection
  • Fire suit, gloves and shoes when required
  • Head-and-neck restraint and other required protective equipment
  • Gear inspected for damage and within applicable dates

SXS Inspection

  • Cage, doors, nets, seat mounts and harnesses secure
  • Steering, suspension, wheel bearings and brakes checked
  • Wheels torqued and tires appropriate for the event
  • Engine oil, coolant, transmission and differential fluids serviced
  • Belts, battery, wiring, fuel system and fire extinguisher checked
  • Numbers, transponder and GPS equipment mounted as required

Tools and Spares

Pack tools that fit the machine, plus common wear items such as belts, tires, wheels, suspension hardware, fluids and electrical supplies. Endurance teams should build a pit plan, assign responsibilities and rehearse driver changes or refueling procedures.

At the Track

Arrive before registration closes. Complete technical inspection early, attend the drivers meeting and confirm staging times. Track conditions and schedules can change, so follow official announcements throughout the weekend.

This checklist is a planning aid; the current rulebook and event instructions always control.
